Cline

Add Ternary in Cline with streamable HTTP and Ternary's OAuth client ID, then sign in in your browser.

Connect Cline to Ternary using Cline's MCP server configuration. Cline requires an OAuth client ID for the Ternary connection.

Before you start

You need:

  • An existing Ternary account
  • Access to at least one Ternary tenant
  • Cline 4.1.7 or newer

Step 1: Open MCP configuration

In Cline:

  1. Open MCP Servers.
  2. Choose Configure MCP Servers.

Step 2: Add Ternary

Choose the tab that matches where your Ternary tenant is hosted and copy & paste the configuration.

If it already has other MCP servers, add the "ternary" block inside "mcpServers" instead of replacing the whole file.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "ternary": {
      "type": "streamableHttp",
      "url": "https://core-api.ternary.app/mcp",
      "oauthClient": {
        "clientId": "https://core-api.ternary.app/oauth/client-metadata.json"
      }
    }
  }
}

Save the file. The client ID stays the same for US and EU. Do not add a client secret.

Step 3: Sign in

Start the Ternary connection in Cline.

Your browser opens the Ternary sign-in page.

  1. Sign in with your existing Ternary credentials.
  2. Approve the access request.
  3. Return to Cline.

Approve the request only if you initiated the connection yourself.

Step 4: Verify the connection

Confirm that the Ternary MCP server is available and its tools are enabled.
