Learn how to configure the Slack integration in Ternary to authorize workspace access and send platform notifications to Slack channel(s).

The Slack integration allows Ternary to deliver notifications directly to a Slack workspace. These notifications can be routed to Slack channel(s) for operational visibility and collaboration. Each notification includes direct links to the relevant content in Ternary, allowing teams to quickly navigate to the source and take action.

How is the Slack integration configured in Ternary?

Step 1: Authorize the Slack workspace

  1. Open Admin in Ternary.
  2. Select Add to Slack.

Ternary redirects to Slack to authorize workspace access. Slack workspace administrator permission is required to approve the integration.

After authorization is granted, Slack returns to Ternary and the Slack Team URL is automatically populated in the integration settings.

Step 2: Configure the Slack notification channel

  1. After Slack permissions are granted, the integration redirects back to Ternary. Select Details to open the workspace configuration settings.
  1. The modal displays the Workspace URL, Team URL and Cost Summary Channel.
  1. Select Update Integrations.
  2. Enter the Cost summary channel that will receive Ternary summaries.

Step 3: Complete the configuration

Select Submit to save the integration settings.

After configuration is complete, Ternary notifications begin appearing in the selected Slack channel.

Slack notifications support proactive anomaly management by delivering alerts for unexpected changes in cloud spend directly to designated channels. When an anomaly is detected, notifications provide direct access to the relevant data in Ternary, enabling teams to review, investigate, and take action. This ensures timely response, improves visibility across teams, and supports structured tracking and remediation of anomalies.
