Slack

The Slack integration allows Ternary to deliver notifications directly to a Slack workspace. These notifications can be routed to Slack channel(s) for operational visibility and collaboration. Each notification includes direct links to the relevant content in Ternary, allowing teams to quickly navigate to the source and take action.

How is the Slack integration configured in Ternary?

Step 1: Authorize the Slack workspace

1. Open Admin in Ternary.
2. Select Add to Slack.

Ternary redirects to Slack to authorize workspace access. Slack workspace administrator permission is required to approve the integration.

After authorization is granted, Slack returns to Ternary and the Slack Team URL is automatically populated in the integration settings.

Step 2: Configure the Slack notification channel

1. After Slack permissions are granted, the integration redirects back to Ternary. Select Details to open the workspace configuration settings.

2. The modal displays the Workspace URL, Team URL and Cost Summary Channel.

3. Select Update Integrations.
4. Select a non-archived public Cost Summary Channel. A previously saved private or archived channel may still be displayed when Slack permits it, but cannot be newly selected. Saving a changed channel may join it and send a connection message. Confirm the saved channel in Ternary; the Slack message alone does not establish a successful save.

Step 3: Complete the configuration

Select Submit to save the integration settings.

The Cost Summary Channel receives summaries. Anomaly alerts use each alert rule’s saved Slack destinations; configuring the summary channel does not configure those rules. Enable Slack and select channels on the relevant alert rule. See Anomaly Detection for rule configuration.
